Statement of Faith
The Bible
We believe that the Holy Scriptures, comprised of 39 books of the Old Testament and 27 books of the New Testament, collectively called the Holy Bible, is the inspired, inerrant in the original documents, infallible, and God-breathed Word of God and thus the ultimate authority of man’s life.
2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21
God
We believe that there is one true God, eternally existing in three co-equal, co-eternal yet distinct Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is the only one worthy of glory and the recipient of our worship as Creator, Redeemer and final Judge.
Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 45:5-7, 1 Corinthians 8:4, Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Revelation 4:11, Genesis 1:1, Isaiah 44:6, Psalm 9:8
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus is God incarnate in human form, fully God and fully man, He is God the Son, the second person of the Triune God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died a substitutionary death for our sins, was buried and bodily rose from the dead, appeared to the apostles and other witnesses, ascended to heaven to sit at the right hand of His Father in glory and is now interceding as High Priest for those who believe in Him.
John 10:30-33, Philippians 2:5-8, Matthew 1:18-20, Matthew 1:21-25, Hebrews 4:15, Matthew 11:4-5, 1 Peter 2:24, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 1 Corinthians 15:5-8, Hebrews 1:3, Hebrews 7:24-26
Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Triune God, whose regenerate work brings people to Christ and salvation, indwells every believer, equipping believers for ministry, empowering believers for service, and producing spiritual fruit in the believer’s life, and without the ministry of the Holy Spirit, people are unable to live a life pleasing to God.
Acts 2:2, Romans 8:8-11, John 14:16-17, John 16:8-14
People
God personally created man in His own image, free of sin and in perfect relationship with God. The primary purpose for the creation of man is to glorify God and enjoy God’s fellowship. Adam and Eve, the first humans, rebelled against God and all people inherit this sinful nature. The consequence for sin is the separation from God resulting in death that is physical, spiritual and eternal. Man cannot earn the forgiveness of God and is left without the ability to be reconciled to God through the power of man’s own will.
Genesis 1:26-28, Psalm 139:13, Isaiah 43:7, Romans 3:23, Isaiah 59:2, Romans 6:23
Salvation
We believe that eternal salvation comes by faith alone placed in Jesus Christ alone, the second person of the Triune God, whose substitutionary sacrifice on the cross provides the forgiveness of sin for the believer. Regeneration is the work of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the triune God, resulting in the believer’s repentance and application of the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ which is a free gift of God and resulting in the confession of the believer, that Jesus Christ is Lord and is eternally secured in this salvation by God.
Romans 6:23, Romans 8:8-11, Romans 10:9-10, John 10:27-28, Galatians 3:22, 1 Peter 1:3-5
Church
We believe that the authority for the church and head of the church is Jesus Christ and that church leadership, order, and worship are all appointed through the sovereignty of God as found in the Holy Scriptures. The church is made up of all born-again believers in this present age, and that all believers are called to participate faithfully in the ministry of the church by devoting themselves to worship, prayer, God’s Word, observance of baptism and the Lord’s Supper, service and outreach. Attendance and service in a local community of believers is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures.
Ephesians 1:22, Colossians 1:18, Acts 2:42-47, Hebrews 10:25, 1 Corinthians 11:24-25, Matthew 28:19, Acts 14:27, Hebrews 10:25, Acts 2:46
Future Events
We believe in the personal, bodily return of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will judge the earth and its people and rule His eternal kingdom in righteousness. The soul of the believer passes immediately into the presence of Christ upon physical death. We teach the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved to eternal life, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment.
